The Old Arsenal Museum in Solothurn is one of the largest historically oriented armor and weapon exhibitions in Switzerland, however, focuses primarily on the Canton of Solothurn.
History
The building of the present museum was built around 1609. Later it was used for centuries as an armory ( armory ) for the troops of the then state political or sovereign (independent) federal state of Solothurn. This also on the establishment of the State in 1848 with a degree of centralization of military organization beyond . At the beginning of the 20th Century took the Canton of some new armories in operation, located in the old town of Solothurn fire department was converted into a museum.
